The library is the ‘heart’ of any academic institution and plays an important role in all academic activities the library has been planned keeping in view the aims and objectives of the College, and is being operated by a team of professionally qualified library staff guided by the Library Committee. The college has spacious, resourceful library in the first floor with all facilities. There are separate sections for Science, Commerce, Management and Computer Science. It has a collection of over 16,000 collections and 50 periodicals covering a wide range of general and special subjects, comprising of text books, reference books, current periodicals, back volumes of journals and reports etc
The library has an open access system to facilitate readers to have easy access to the library resources. The College Library has also established links with other important libraries in and around Bangalore in order to provide inter-library access for the benefit of students and teachers of the College. To assist the students and staff in locating literature as well as information in their areas of research or study, general reference, current awareness and computerized catalogues have been introduced. An orientation programme is also organised for new students to help them acquaint themselves with the library system and services and for enabling maximum utilization of the available resources.
The library assistant is always available to help you locate the books whenever necessary. For convenient use, the books are arranged systematically subject wise in glass cupboards. Open access system is followed to locate the books easily. Rack guides provided on the shelves makes the location easy. To borrowers library cards are issued to each student at the beginning of the every year to enable them have access to library. At a time a student can borrow 4 books and use for a fortnight. The staff members are issued card numbers and they can borrow the books and keep till the end of the examination.
The library is kept open from 9am–5.00p.m on weekdays and 8.30am–2.00pm on Saturdays. For security reasons, the gate register is maintained. The students should keep their belongings outside the library in the separate shelves provided for this purpose and enter the library only after signing the gate register. Annually stock verification is done and the missing books are listed. Proper measures are taken to replace or locate them. In order to motivate/encourage the students avail the facilities in the library and develop the reading habits, the library staff has introduced Best User Award for the students and the students are awarded the same in the College Day function.
